Kawaii Guide to the Best Coffee Shops in Tokyo
There is nothing I love more than sitting in a coffee shop watching the world go by through the window. Seeking out cute cafes is one of my favourite things to do when travelling and I often pick a favourite spot which I come back to again and again during the same trip. Sitting with a coffee, a tasty breakfast, and your map or travel guide is a great start to any adventure. ≖‿≖
Yet another amazing thing about Tokyo is the incredible coffee scene. The Japanese do coffee right! You can find everything from minimalist speciality coffee shops to adorable kawaii latte art. Here are my top picks of my favourite coffee shops I love to visit when in Tokyo. I hope you get time to try some of them out on your next visit ♡

BEST KAWAII
Reissue
3-25-7 2F Tanji building, Jinguumae Shibuya-ku
This is a super kawaii cafe in one of my favourite areas of Harajuku. From the unassuming entrance you head directly up some stairs to a small, cute coffee shop filled with incredibly friendly staff. The latte artists are amazing and you can select either a 3D or 2D design. You can ask for any design you like (just bring a photo on your phone) or, if you need a little inspiration, there is a menu with photos of designs to chose from. Truly a unique experience and the coffee tastes great too! The way the 3D designs jiggle is so cute!! ≧◡≦

BEST CHAIN
Excelsior
Literally everywhere but my favourite is this one Shibuya 〒150-0041 Tokyo, Shibuya City,
Although there is nothing quite like finding a cute independent coffee shop tucked down a random side street, I also really enjoy trying out chains that you only get in Japan. Also, Tokyo is so huge that some times you just need to stop and rest those feet knowing you will get a decent coffee! You will find various great chains including Dotour and Tully's all over Tokyo but my favourite is Excelsior. The dark wooden interiors are minimalist and relaxing and the cheesecake is amazing!

BEST NOVELTY
Nissan Crossing Cafe
5 Chome-8-1 Ginza, Chuo City
OK, so this coffee isn't going to win any awards for taste (although it isn't bad) or atmosphere but where else can you get a photo of your choice literally printed on your coffee? These creations can be found in little bar area on the 2nd floor of the Nissan Crossing building, a glitzy technology showroom in the Ginza distract. This is a free attraction that is worth a visit if you are in the area even if you aren't in the mood for a coffee. The Sony showroom is in the same building where you can meet their robot puppy Aibo who, take it from me, is as adorable as the real thing. I'm not interested in cars but the ability to have any photo of your choice printed on a coffee is a real novelty and makes for a great photo. (◕‿-)

BEST THEME
Pokemon Cafe
2-11-2 Nihonbashi, Chuo- ku
Tokyo is the home of the themed pop up cafe. You can find cafes dedicated to everything from your favourite anime characters to toy trains. Themed cafes deserve their own post but I just had to include at least one here and you know when the Pokemon company create a cafe they are going to do it right! Reservations are essential here so it can take a little planning but the experience is totally worth it. All of the food is so kawaii you will want to buy everything plus you get to meet Chef Pikachu!

BEST ARTISAN
Roastery by Nozy Coffee
5 Chome-17-13 Jingumae
It is difficult to talk about Tokyo coffee shops without mentioning The Roastery. Here they use only single origin beans which are roasted on site. The smell is amazing and the space is trendy and fast-paced. Also, the donuts are incredible. Conveniently located near Shibuya and Harajuku this makes a perfect stop when out and about.

Hi!
I'm Cheri, creator of Kawaii Cherry Pi, and (as you can probably guess) I love making kawaii and cute artwork and accessories. I am a huge fan of Japanese culture; the crazy and colorful along with the peaceful and natural.
Just like Japan, this site is a haven of contrasts; kawaii & otaku, travel tips and wanderlust, and mindfulness & self-improvement. So, stay a while and tanoshi! 楽しい
